Michelle has been in unconditional love with the plant world since birth and her fascination with food began shortly afterward (as evidenced in many a home movie).  These passions find a perfect blend in her chosen profession of landscape architecture.   Michelle has enjoyed the wonderful opportunity of working with SUNY-ESF and SU’s collaborative, transdisciplinary food studies design studio and is currently researching Syracuse’s existing urban food security initiatives in collaboration with SU’s Community Geography department.  Discovering the positive energy and determined motivation that her peers share in their desire to establish a source of organic, local, ethical produce on campus has been one of the highlights of her time in Syracuse.  Her dream is a regionally based, equitable, local food system that supports healthy individuals, communities and landscapes in mutually beneficial relationships that rehabilitate and increase environmental carrying capacities.  When not thinking about food, or making food for friends, she experiments with different methods of urban food production, including wearable microfarms.
